Default International Space Station Flyover at 8:35pm

Yet nother great opportunity to see the International Space Station fly over the Carolinas. The flyover tonight begins at 8:35 pm and will last 6 minutes as it passes almost directly overhead.

If you've never seen it, all you have to do is look for a steady point of light as bright as Venus moving across the sky.

Interesting stats: The International Space Station will be moving at 17,150 mph and is roughly 250 miles above us. The "light" you see is actually sunlight reflecting off the massive solar panels.

I thought it would be more difficult to spot since it was still so light outside.

    That thing was moving!

Download the app “night sky”. It notifies you every time there’s a flyby. And you can use your phone and look around to find it. It’s also good for finding other constellations if you’re into that. I used it to pass time waiting on the sunrise last season.

Its super neat to watch the sky about 2-4 am late summer.

Sometimes I can't sleep and I will go out side and just stare at the sky.

It is amazing the things you can see.
    Yup, he's crazy...

like a fox. The dude may be coming in a little too hard and crazy but 90% of everything he says is correct.

Sort of like Toof. But way smarter.

Thanks Catdaddy. I read your post at exactly 8:35 and ran outside just in time to see it going overhead. Grabbed the binocs and watched her go. Pretty cool to see. The wife took some good pics.
