    Default New Rifle

Got the itch thinking Kimber 280AI. What scope? Always been a Leopold fan but open to other ideas.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

How do you hunt and how far do you expect to shoot?

    I'm a Leupold fan.
I shoot a fixed 6x 42 FX3 a lot. Plenty bright and nothing to break. Great 200 yd scope. Get the heavy duplex f you can find one. Killed a ton of game with it.
I also have a VX 5 2-10 x 42. Great scope. A big step up from previous generations.

Vortex Razor line is very good. Don't care for the rest.

If you want big objective and illumination, the 56mm Trijicon is popular.

If you want great glass and don't mind paying,S&B, Khales, Ziess and Swarovskis upper tier scopes are as good as it gets.

Agreeing with FLS, I like Leupolds myself. And I have understood that Khales are a great deal for what they are. I am just happy with my Leupolds. And I have a good Burris and Bushnell or two.

I have believed that some Vortex are good but I don't use them. Haven't tried them either. But people seem to like them.

I do think the idea of a 6x 42 FX3 and nothing to break is worth thinking about too.

With a Vortex, I would go with Diamonback HP or higher. I have 2 that I like just as much as my VX3.

Trijicon 4-16x50 accupoint. Great at lowlight and plenty of magnification for hunting larger fields.

Leupold has stepped their game up in the last few years. They rested on their laurels for a long time and the competition passed them by rather substantially. An example is the old Vari-X-III line of scopes. They were very well made but had poor low light capability. Scopes such as the old 4200 put them to shame. They pretty well caught up with the competition with the VX-3 line and now have bumped it up even more. I haven’t kept up with the latest in optics over the past couple of years though. My eye issues and surgery have thrown me for a loop. Used to see 20/10 corrected but that is all history now. Be thankful for your many blessings!!!

If it ain\'t accurate at long distance, then the fact that it is flat shooting is meaningless.

I kind of like the idea of the fixed power, never had that before though.

Shame you don’t know anyone who builds guns.....

Glass is insanely overthought these days. 12 years ago we were killing shit out past 1000m with leupold VX 4s and .308s. Now everyone says you need a 6.5 and 2k worth of glass. It’s silly if you think about.
Seeing these soulless vanilla ice lookin Yankees on a bassboat is worse than watching a woman get her implants taken out. It's just wrong. Get back in your Lund and go back to infisherman.

I picked up another VX5. 3-15x44 fire dot duplex. Side focus CDS zero lock turret. Insanely clear scope.

That Kruger 4.5-20x50 for $340 on Camofire seems hard to beat.
