    Default Drum core plug aerator

Anyone ever use one like the ones sold at agrisupply in Florence? Is it worth buying? Or better to rent the smaller one from rental shop? Have about 2-3 acres I’d like to aerate regularly- hard ground but thinking it would work good after good rain.?

If you're going to use it regularly, and the ground will be soft, that's the type I'd go with, but only you can decide whether the cost benefit is to your advantage.

    Have fun!

That thing needs parking brakes! Can you imagine how scary it would be if that thing got away from you on a hill?

About 3 seconds in the time are full and you’re only making you ground harder, but with nice holes in it.

The tines on most of these are open about mid ways up which keeps them from plugging up. As you roll it the new plugs force the plugged dirt up and out.

No question that can happen, Tater, but the trick is to keep the weight of the roller 'just heavy enough' that the drum itself doesn't compact the ground. I'm assuming that the roller in question is filled with water as many/most non-motorized aerators are.
