The USFS is accepting public input on a plan to cut approximately 900 acres of timber in the Nantahala National Forest. The “Buck Project” is located in Clay County. If you have the time, please send an email supporting Alternative B to:
Steverson Moffat <smoffat@fs.fed.us>
Subject: Buck Project
Message Body: I support Alternative B of the Buck Project for the creation of Grouse habitat.
The deadline for comments is May 10th at 4:00 PM.
If you care to read the Draft Environmental Assessment for the Buck Project, follow this link:
https://www.fs.usda.gov/nfs/11558/ww...T3_4637511.pdf
It is 234 pages of light reading. The total analysis area is 20,638 acres and 14,222 of those timbered acres are 80 years old or older.
Thanks in advance!
