    Default Tiller Conversion

    Anybody ever done it ?

I’ve been looking for used jet drive motors for a while now and it seems the only ones I can find are on center console boats.

I know they can be converted, I just don’t know any one that’s done it.

You mean just swapping controls for a tiller?
Only done it on a Yamaha but it's fairly easy.

    Yes.

Is it expensive to do so? This motor is also a Yamaha.

You can usually find a big tiller for around $450 and the fitting kit for a little over a hundred.

Actually depending on condition I may be interested in the steering helm and cables if you're getting rid of them. The motor I'm upgrading has the old school pulley system.

Bog, hit me up. I can do these in my sleep. Converting a jet motor is no different that any other Yamaha. Only difference is the foot.

I have converted a couple over the years. If Willy can’t help I probably can.

Thanks guys. When I pick up the motor I will give both of you a call.

    BB, but of course.

Biggest cost is gonna be the tiller handle itself. You'd be hard pressed just to get the materials for the conversion for less than $600.

    We need to talk anyways.
