    Default 4/27

I have been trying to get one of my good friends son his first turkey since opening day of youth season. The first Saturday of youth week we had one come to 60 yards and turn around and leave. The next morning I called 3 in and he missed the big bird at 20 yards. He shook it off since it was his first time ever turkey hunting. Last Friday I took him again and called 2 more in that came in silent catching him off guard and not being able to move for the shot we let the move off without spooking them. This morning we herd nothing up to after fly down time so we opted to go to the back of the property where they like to go. No more than a minute after we sat down and got ready I yelped soft on the persimmon slate over glass courtesy of ccleroy and they walked into the road bed and saw the decoys. The rest is history they strutted and gobbled right up to the decoys and Sam killed his first longbeard. 18lbs 10&1/2" beard 1" spurs just seeing this young man stick with it and killing his first bird made my whole season.

Good stuff, congrats to all y’all.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home. -Tecumseh-
