Heard this fella gobble on the limb from a distance about 6:50. Got within about 120yds in the back corner of a cutdown. A few soft clucks and yelps and he went to silly gobbling. After he flew down it got quiet for 7-8 mins and I was praying a crow would call to locate him because I was on my knees behind a pine aching like hell. Couldn’t take it anymore so I gave a few soft yelps and no answer. Turned to face away and cut at him and this time he gobbled in stereo. Clicked the safety off and he stepped out strutting at 30yds just a couple of seconds later. Just a good old fashioned 2yr old but it was a great show to be a part of for my last bird of the season. The Good Lord has blessed me with a great wife and family that understands the “disease” I have and my almost constant need for “treatment” in the spring. Raising 3 kids 5 and under makes it tough to get in the woods at times but I wouldn’t have it any other way. My oldest is now bound and determined to let the .410 bark before Cinco De Mayo!
