I met Nick last year. Helped him clean a deer he killed on a friends farm. Got to talk with him about sword fishing. He has probably caught more big sword fish than anyone alive. He has it figured out.

2,050 ft of water blows my mind too. Everything about that video is crazy

That is a bold statement. There are some old boys that have been doing it for a loooong time down there. That he is even in that conversation at his age is pretty amazing. By the time he is done, he will have written the book on it...

Nick's Dad Richard is the real legend in that family. It was long thought that the elder Stanczyk was the inspiration for the main character in Thomas McGuane's book "92 in the Shade" no matter. Hundreds of guides down there in the 70s and 80s that made the current crop of guides lot in life a little easier.

Not to take away from Nick's skill as a Captain and guide. One hell of a fish. For $2500, you can go have a chance to catch one too. He catches a bunch of them.

Booby trap out of freeport, TX did some incredible things in the gulf when they kept the boat there.

I have some pics of swords caught off Anegada that make that one look like a pup. The cost was prohibitive though. 100 blue marlin over 500 pounds killed in a single night prohibitive...
