Two Georgia football recruiting support staffers have been removed from the program, one permanently, according to a report from DawgNation, citing sources.
Dacia King, listed as recruiting relations coordinator, was fired and Lukman Abdulai, director of on-campus recruiting, is suspended for 30 days without pay.
Reached by the Banner-Herald Tuesday night, athletic director Greg McGarity said he “can’t comment on any personnel matters.” He didn’t say whether NCAA recruiting violations occurred.
The news comes after an important recruiting weekend at G-Day that included a handful of five-star recruits being hosted on campus.
King received a promotion and a raise on March 1. She previously held the title recruiting program coordinator. Abdulai’s salary was increased $23,000 to $95,000 annually on Feb. 12, soon after Georgia landed the nation’s No. 2 ranked recruiting class.
King’s Twitter profile still lists her recruiting role at Georgia. A UGA graduate with degrees in marketing and sports management, King served as intern before being hired as recruiting program coordinator in May 2018.
She retweeted the Saturday commitment announcement by Texas four-star offensive lineman Akinola Ogunbiyi to Georgia who added his name to a class currently ranked No. 10 for 2020.
Abdulai, an Illinois native, started at Georgia in 2013 as a recruiting student assistant, was named assistant recruiting operations coordinators in 2015 and director of on campus recruiting in January of 2016 soon after Kirby Smart was hired as coach.
