Question for ya.

Anyone here notice turkeys fearing herons? A buddy of mine has been hunting this swampy spot Hardwood bush in the back pines on one side , last years corn field.3 days he says the gobblers were hot and heavy at fly down , they get started about they business . He hears the herons coming in , about a half dozen. They roost in the trees near the swamp and turkeys run from the field . They start to scatter when they hear them.

Ive never noticed them act any different. My parents have about 15-20 that nest in the spring on the edge of their swamp and Ive killed a handful of turkeys that i could throw a rock and hit one of the nest trees.

These ones might have been abused as poults by a heron or something.

wouldnt surprise me a bit. Turkeys are scared of everything.

My suspicion as well. Turkeys hate owls for the same reason.

ETA: But yeah turkeys can run from their own shadow.
