"Not the ECHL. They fight to fill the seats not to enforce the code."

In the ECHL that fight for the same reason as the NHL. That is to protect the star player. What is your definition of the code?

The code is simple, the enforcer is on the ice, you mess with anyone above him skill wise, you answer to him. Team needs a pick me up, you call out the other tough guy on the team. Don’t fuck with the goalie.

More fights in minors for guys to prove themselves or to entertain.

Did you play hockey growing up?

Your definition of the is spot on. It's the same for every league from pee wee's thru NHL. I'm a certified hockey coach for all levels thru juniors. Have coached and followed hockey for 20 plus years. I'm not saying he's not a tough player and plays hard and has a lot of hits. I'm saying that fight does not qualify him as a fighter.

Never said he was. Just a tough guy answering the bell, just happened to be a rookie mistake. Energized his team though.

    Where do you coach now?

Double OT in a game 7 was awesome. Solid win for the Canes.

    Let's Go CANES!!!

They played a hell of a 3rd period which kept on through both overtime periods. The first OT seemed like a 20 minute Carolina power play. It looked like Washington lost their legs. The missed delay of game call in OT1 was a shame.

This is one of the things I love about hockey. They police themselves and it's totally acceptable. Refs just make sure it's a fair fight. They do not have as colorful of enforcers as they used to have but I think that's a societal thing. I miss Probert vs. Domi vs. McSorley vs. Grimson vs. Brashear.

I have no desire to watch hockey during the regular season but playoff hockey is really fun to watch. Last nights game was awesome.

Punching someone in the helmet seems like a good way to break a hand and end your season.
