    Life was a lot harder back then. That was the year my grandmother was born in May. They didn't name her until early fall when they harvested the peanuts. It's amazing how many children did not survive to see one year of age.

    I support local businesses and watermen so I eat clusters and local shrimp.

    Pretty bland is what they are. Oysters should be comsumed from the estuaries from Wilmington down to the SC/GA line if you care about quality.

    Agreed, a few creeks off the Chesapeake Bay have had some nice fat salty ones for me also
    I oystered around Currituck too and they were damn good back when I lived on Hatteras Island
