I think it has a mouse in its mouth. Looks like a water moccasin.

In SC, they're all either chicken snakes (any upland, non-poisonous snake), cottonmouth moccasins (any snake in or near water), and rattluhs (any snake whose identity as one of the other two is uncertain).

    Lol.
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.

As mentioned, the first appears to be a yellow rat snake. They start out looking like other rat snakes, but as they get bigger, they develop those lines that run down their bodies. Harmless snakes, but they tend to get bitey as they get older.

Not likely. Water moccasins aren't often found that far north. Their range ends around the start of the Piedmont region. I've roamed and waded this whole country around Greenwood, Abbeville and Laurens in daylight and at night, I've yet to encounter a cottonmouth up here. There may be a scattered few around in the Piedmont but I've never heard of a confirmed sighting. Of course everyone thinks they've seen water moccasins up this way, but they are always a water snake. The snakes in the nerodia genus (water snakes) are mean enough to be water moccasins. Especially the Northern, that sucker will bite you continuously all day long. One of the funniest Dirty Jobs shows I ever saw was when Mike Rowe was catching water snakes.

Never any doubt with hickory test, just add length for any doubt on species identification. Rattle damage is always a risk though.
