    Default decoys vs calls

A buddy and I were talking turkeys and I said it wouldn't hurt my feelings if they banned all decoys. He said if you do that then you have to ban calls also because its an artificial way of making a male turkey think there is a female. Although I was mainly referring to male decoys but I am not opposed to banning all decoys. Discuss.

Banning decoys is turkey poet mentality. A turkey is a retarded bird. If you hunt property that has turkeys, it's not hard to kill them, with or without calls or decoys. If you think you should ban decoys, then you should ban calls too. Both are artificial ways to fool animals, both result in dead animals. Ban food plots too. And ban non primitive and primitive weapons too. You're only allowed to kill the. With your bare hands.... No gloves allowed. Sounds fair.

Saddest thing is a bird with a brain the size of a pea whips about 75-80% of the people who pursue him. How does that make you feel??

Truest thing ever posted on this site. I always consider them an easy mark for people who like to hunt , but don’t like the cold and effort involved in other game. The “ there I was” stories are hilarious though. All over said retarded bird. I do think it’s a good way to introduce children to hunting.

Idk... anything not killed over a corn pile from an insulated heated stand maybe. Don’t get me wrong, I shoot some that way, but that ain’t deer hunting. Turkey hunting with all the new decoys and such seems similar to me. Nothing wrong with it , just don’t act like you’re the great white hunter when you kill a bird with a brain the size of a pencil eraser.

The thing that intrigues me the most is the amount of “turkeys are so stupid” and “turkeys are easy to kill” people that have never once posted a picture of a dead turkey.

People that can’t kill turkeys just have terrible woodsmanship.

Do people hunt turkeys in “the woods” anymore? Serious question.
As for the other I don’t post pictures of squirrels I kill either. No offense intended to Duckcutter.

Seems to me with all the decoying and calling acumen on here , and the “ six step “ kills it would be much more of a challenge and more sporting to try a head shot with a .22 or .17 at that distance. Just seems that a handful of tss out of a choked down blunderbuss is overkill for these highly intelligent critters. The lure of easy hunting does have a very strong appeal

I tend to agree with you. If one employs all the gadgets and crutches available for todays turkey hunting, it should be a piece of cake to kill a turkey. Yet, still, lots of folks seem to have a hard time.
