    Default Basically Cheating

I wasn't sure if I was going to like shooting with an MRDS, so picked up the Vortex Venom, because I like the combination of features and price.

It took about 12 shots to get it zeroed, and sweet Jesus this thing is a game changer. I've heard all kinds of mixed reviews ranging from saying it's accurate but slower, to it takes a while to get it.
First 2 mags, at 15 yards, fired at a pretty decent pace, mostly double taps. So far, no problem finding the dot on presentation.

I'm considering a Gen5 17 MOS and having it ported.

    Nice work.

Do you have to hit something to turn it on? How would that work for a carry gun?

Hit the “up arrow” right above your thumb, it’s easy to do while drawing.

Battery life is 30,000 hours on the dimmest setting. Average usage about 15K. Just turn it on and leave it on replace yearly.

Seeing these soulless vanilla ice lookin Yankees on a bassboat is worse than watching a woman get her implants taken out. It's just wrong. Get back in your Lund and go back to infisherman.

Venom shuts down after several hours. My battery dies every year before turkeys season. Good red dot though.

I tried using that auto-off feature with the one on my Buckmark .22 I use for squirrels, and even putting it in the case when not using it cost me two batteries in a matter of months. Guess I should contact Vortex.

    Thanks for the info.

Great looking gun. Have shot some set up similarly and they’re lots of fun.

    Go with the Trijicon. RMS

The light adjusts for you or there is a over ride.

But as noted fine for carry guns. They recommend changing every year. I was well into 2 years and some change when I got a gen 5 34 with a RMS. I realized I needed to change the batteries in the RMS that was on top of a Gen 4 41.

Both guns are super fast and accurate. The 41 is nice for popping pigs out the window when they will not get out the road.

I have a Trijicon RMS on EDC 19. It's great but It does take some getting used to though. Also have one on a 17 that others have enjoyed on range trips.

That looks awkward sitting on top of the slide like that. Almost as if it was an afterthought.

    Agreed.

    Makes it look top heavy.

I know it isn't, but there has to be .125 that can be milled off and then drill and tap some screw holes in there.

Sig’s have a high bore axis anyway. Then you get that sight way up there. That being said, if you shoot good with it then the hell with everyone else.
