Yeah, all I have heard is legislators should not be setting the season.

I believe DNR recommended a statewide April 10th start.

How saved you from that? Legislators.

They shouldn’t be, and I never said I was against the later start.

What we hear the most on this site is DNR should set all game laws. If they had the opening would be April 10th statewide.

    The senate chose different.

On what grounds? They know more? Have friends who know more? Have better research?

So what your saying is, y’all disregarded DNR’s recommendations, again, in order to appease your hunting buddies?

The Senate has not actually passed anything at this point, have they? There is a committee report with S575 amendments, but it's still subject to revision before a Senate vote and consideration by the House.... Right?

I IMAGINE, but have not spoken to the Seators on the committee, that they blended the recommendation by DNR with the need to make turkey hunters happy.

It has to pass the full senate, then back to the house. It will be referred to the Ag committee and assigned to a sub-committee. Your input is allowed at that sub-committee. It can be amended. Then must pass sub, full committee, then the entire house.

If it is not amended and passes then it goes to gov. If amended, the senate can concur or non-concur. If non-concurs, we get three members from each body to try to find a compromise that both the house and senate agree on.

Phillip, As a general rule of thumb when I pay someone, who knows much more than I do about a particular subject , for their expertise, I follow their advice. That applies to lawyers, doctors , plumbers and a wide range of other people who know what they are doing. I would suggest that you use that same idea and do what the biologist suggest.
