Slow and steady cutting days out of it, reminiscent of SAMFC

If a youth has to tag a bird during regular season, why would they not have to tag one on youth day? Will they (youth) be allowed 4 turkeys under the new regs? They need to hire Dave Bauman back.

Wonder how they came to the decision to cut the season by 25 percent?

Agreed 100%. This whole thing that all of a sudden our season opening to early is the cause of the pop decline is BS

Spring in the low country is a different animal than spring in the mountains. Our state is too diverse for a state wide season.

The youth could have killed 7 this season.

My Senator showed no interest in doing anything to the changes that were made yesterday...

What is wrong with having 2 different start dates?

I'm digging the idea only one bird can be killed in those first 9 days.

I find it amazing everyone around us has been bitching and griping about the turkey population decline.

We went to one bird per member (period) a few years back and all of a sudden we have birds every where while our neighbors keep going down. They seem to have stabilized but it isn't what you use to see around Florence with fields full of 75-100 birds.

One of our neighbors is a larger club and they can only kill 1 bird per person. This means once the member has killed a bird he can still take "guest" and the member can call for them. What good does that non sense do. Why not just say kill as many tags as you can come up with.

Now they literally have no birds on property in Florence. They are having to travel to property they have in the lower part of the county to hunt birds because they have hunted them out.

    You want birds?
Stop killing all your tags, and start trapping coons, and opossums! Kill a extra coyote or 20.

    You will have birds again!
    Yup, he's crazy...

Here's the reply that I got from my Senator in regards to a split season:

"Eric, the state is definitely diverse. That’s not the issue. The issue is the disproportionate effect two seasons have on the early season counties and the problems with enforcement. As you can imagine, if you have property in both the upstate and the lowcountry, and/or you live near the dividing line; the split season would naturally push people into the lowcountry, creating unnecessary and harmful pressure on the birds. Neither DNR or NWTF wanted a split season and I actually agree."
