Default Well I see the MAFIA is still business as normal

Looks like the Mafia is alive and well , huge Sopranos fan anyway.

My secretary is from NY and tells me how accurate this stuff really is

Yea, but the last head to be killed was a Gambino, like Frankie Boy.

According to the reports I read.

Can someone break down the crime families for those of us who don't understand it.
    Yup, he's crazy...

If there is one thing you need to know about the Mafia, it is that you don't talk.

Like to see some traditions kept. Kudos to la Cosa Nostra.

I studied organized crime in college. It's very interesting.

One of my favorite restaurants in Blowing Rock was closed down and it was rumored to have been squeezed out by the mafia. I've held an illegitimate grudge ever since.

They're very organized. They do crime. It's and organized crime. Neat and tidy, HS would approve.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

    Yea...I get that.

I was more into the inner workings. Obviously there are several "families"

Do they all hate each other? Do they work together?

Are they still the "big" players or did Giuliani so weekend them there is no difference in them and the mexicans now?

This sort of stuff intrigues me.

    Never really studied them.

    younger generation screwed it up.
They dealt drugs (heroin) which was against all rules and carried long prison sentences. (importing heroin and selling weight to the black kingpins)
The long sentences lead to cooperation/rats and wearing wires which brought most families down
RICO was a Gov. strategy that took out leaders that were far removed from the daily activities
The game has changed - the union is their bread and butter, they borrow from the union financial managers (from billion $ pension acct) headed by their "installed" union leaders
These union loans are used to buy big business' that can then launder $ from anything
    rinse wash and repeat

They love the Mexican cartel for taking the spotlight off them.
They work together on bid rigging, such as concrete jobs, electrical, plumbing, etc on the sky scrapers
If the union has their hands in it …...they are getting their "tax"
I knew a pot smuggler in the early eighties (Italian from Jersey). He told me that his uncle collected .25 cent
from Frank Perdue for every chicken brought into NYC. Perdue when first approached told him to "go get fucked"
then the next day, the union refused to unload Perdue's trucks and when the refrigeration units went out, they could not get
anyone to repair them (union again). The last I heard, Perdue was happy with the .10 cent re-negotiated
"chicken tax". The produce district, the garment district, the jewelry district, the meat district, etc. all operate this way.
Different districts have different families...…. sort of.
Makes truck hijacking a breeze also
These are just a few example of how they currently operate...…...they own almost every scrap yard and garbage hauling business also ( just like in the Sopranos).

I do like neat and tidy, but I don't like the guido look. I can't handle it, it's just not my style.

I think you’d also be pretty surprised at a lot of high ranking and ceo types that are also hell’s angels.

I don’t mean surprised, I mean not that impressive. CEO’s as Hell’s Angels. Sounds pretty dumb.

Screw a union. I'd shut my business down before I'd let "organized" employees make demands.

That's because of how we were raised in the south.
Up north, their Daddies and Granddaddies were in the Union and
were the best jobs you could get for most.
