John Eberhart is an egotistical prick.

No I use the ring of steps. The platforms look cool but I didn't want to add any more weight and the ring of steps has been plenty comfortable.

It does feel weird at first but it is way more comfortable then a climber or lock on. Range of motion is awesome and not being limited to straight trees is awesome as well.

Just looked up the steps I'm going to try. Silent Approach by Bullman. 5lbs for steps so total package would be less than 10lbs and almost no metal.

Is this you Benman? If so, say, never mind that could be a trick.

That's what I use. You can eliminate one of the steps on the strap and just use the top step of your top stick as a step. Drops a little more weight and really 5 steps just seems to get in the way.

Thanks for the info. I do a pile of walk in hunting and that rig/weight sure sounds good, already got the sticks.

Join the saddlehunter forum and check things out. Lots of options for climbing and platforms.

I also like using a Lone Wolf climber seat as a platform.

I can't afford that much foam, tile adhesive and craft paint. Also, do they have a poor saddle hunter forum?

Back in the day when baker climbers were the thing a couple fellas in our deer club used the bottom for a platform and a seat deal that was a wood slat with a wire sling yoke rig that choked around the tree.
