    I’ve always heard the push button switches are known to go bad on those. Buddy’s zr2 did that and was the switch

    I had a 4wd s10 that did the same thing

    I had a 93 S15Jimmy that needed a little box changed on the firewall in the passenger side footwell.It told the 4wd to engage , disengage etc. I used to disconnect battery to erase codes and hook it up again . Was good for about 6 shifts until the next disconnect. Mechanic said PROM mighta had issues too.
