    Default Shotgun Barrel Length

I am going to buy a brand new in the box Benelli or Berretta within the next few days.
If you could have just one shotgun, what barrel length and why?
Turkeys often, doves a lot and an occasional man drive for deer and get invited to duck hunt every once in a awhile.

I am thinking 28 inch, would the 26 do anything the 28 will do on turkey and dove distances?

I switched to 26" and I like it. Bought another 26" after that. Now I don't even look at a gun with a 28" barrel.

26 or 28 would be just fine. I prefer a 28 on an all around gun

I like the 26",so when I put the extended choke in it it is not a 30" barrel.

2" more of sighting plane. 28" would be my vote. Reckon both should be shouldered to see what felt best.

28 inch. Longer sight plane. Smoother swing.

26" for me. You said turkeys often. 2" is like 2' in the woods.

I have tried to explain this to my wife
Them that don't know him won't like him, and them that do sometimes won't know how to take him

He ain't wrong, he's just different, and his pride won't let him do things to make you think he's right

A “do all” shotgun is for teenagers on minimum wage. Buy a different gun for each application. Short barrel for turkeys, O/U for dove, full barrel for 00 (26 or 28 whichever feels better to you)

All of my autos are 30s, one of my o/u's are, and two are 26 inches. The only time I really use those are duck hunting in timber.

*those are my main hunting guns, I do have an assortment of other shotguns with different lengths
