    Default No-Till Sunflowers

I been planting a dove field for a while now. I’ve always tilled and planted. I am curious if anyone uses no till method when planting sunflowers for a dove field? I have thought about converting as it would save time and maybe help weed control. Has anyone doing this or ever tried? Any input is appreciated.

It works fine and will definitely reduce weed pressure. The less soil disturbance equates to fewer weeds to fight with. Regardless of no till or conventional tillage you need to learn as much about layering pre emergent herbicides as you can. Start clean and Stay clean is the idea. Sometimes easier said than done, but timing is critical in this process. Playing from behind in weed control is no fun.

Again, layering pre emerge herbicides multiple times is key. Start early and often, if not be expected to start manually pulling weeds.

No till works very well. The transition in equipment is very expensive.
