I'm sure if all the trees and stumps were gone we would find something else to bitch about. I actually like the trees.

The trees are great. I like some stumps too. There are some stumps I don’t like though

What about the snakehead fish? A wonder how many of them are in the lake?

31 pages and i only saw 1 pic of the lake when it was low.

if they draw the lake down 10 ft before next big hurricane i bet mother nature will take care of the standing timber

You just need to hush and let the flag burner forget about his dream. Folks that belong on the lake can deal with the trees and stumps just fine. We don't another Lake Murray.

It's not a normal logging operation and somebody would have to have a specialty market for that type of wood. I think clearing some more navigation channels is a possibility, but clearing the whole upper lake(below 95) is not doable, imho.

And finally,...……... once again, If it costs taxpayers ONE Dime, the plan should be scrapped.
    Do what?

I’ve been here my whole life, and I don’t care how much time you spend here, you have to putt from Cypress Shores out into the dead forest and down to the dam. There is a huge portion of the lake that is dangerous to navigate.
Lowering the water every few years to cut them down is great for the lakes in my opinion.

I’m generally curious in hearing the negatives from this.

Please post them as you think of em.
Haven’t studied this enough to make final opinion statement, but I’ll give you an answer or two off the top of my head...
    1. How far will you have to drop water to cut the timber in 10 ft deep areas? To attract folks to bid on it for timber value, I suspect they will want to cut the trees as clise to the dirt as possible...so what will the 3-4 foot deep areas of the lake look like during drawdown?
    2. How long will the water have to be down to make it possible to get in and out?
    3. How much will this truly cost taxpayers?
    4. How much money do public officials stand to make?
    5. What’s wrong with having to go slow in a lake? Having to actually know the lake to run at moderate speeds?

The answers to these questions will give you the answer to your question.
