Oh I know dude. That's my standard reply when people try to bust my balls about being short, having big ears, cutting by shotguns down, etc etc.

You do realize I get this abuse at home right?

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!

benelli montefeltro, or used m1 or m2. the receiver is the same so you can get any youth stock and put it on any of the guns, or at least i did.

Because he is already 5'2 and 117 pounds of mostly muscle. Figure a youth gun is kind of pointless

I here ya, but I disagree with your mindset and here's why. Youth shotguns aren't low grade guns or soft recoiling firearms made specifically for pussies. The main difference is they have shorter lengths of pull for us vertically challenged people, and it will probably have a slimmer forearm. That's it.

I'm a grown man at 5'7" with a length of pull of about 12 3/4". Pretty much every production firearm out there on a shelf carries a LOP somewhere around 14-14.5", which is obviously too long for me. Good mechanics start with a gun that fits. If you really want to teach him to shoot with any level of consistentcy and accuracy, a gun with a length of pull close to his would vastly help you accomplish that.

So for the sake of your boy, consider a youth model with a shorter length of pull that he'll grow into. Most come with spacers that you can add to increase length of pull as he grows. If he gets to be 6'1" and a gun with a 14" LOP eventually fits him then the only thing he'll need is a new full-size stock. Same gun, new feel.

How to measure length of pull:
