My home build
Jwterrys thread about his pole barn has motivated me. We purchased 70 acres last March we are building our home out of red iron steel then framing our walls inside of it. My plan was to put the land in timber use so I started with a timber plan which included clear cutting approximately 23 acres at the back of my property, clearcutting another 2-3 acres where our house will go and then thinnng the remaining pines.
Loggers were way behind due to the wet spring and summer. In the meantime I was itching to cut a road in and have a kudzu thicket cleaned up by a local guy with a forestry mulcher. The mulcher did wonders on what I thought was a 1/2 acre kudzu thicket to a large field with scattered oak trees that rolls down to the creek.
Loggers finally made it in August and made quick work of what needed to be done. The last few months have been spent stumping and cleaning up from the loggers and getting the homesite ready to start my concrete slab. As most are, I am absolutely sick of the rain. Between that and a year of roofing like I have never seen before and two boys under the age of 4 life has been hectic. Last week the tree crew came and did their thing and the grading was started as was the work on building my pad up for my concrete slab to be poured. Hoping to finish most of the grading this weekend.
