    Default Tree tubes

Planted about 30 oaks behind the house and need tubes on them. Way too many out there for me to research. What’s a good tube to use that isn’t in the $8+ range? Cheaper the better, but I want a solid 5’ tube to that won’t break down immediately.

If any of you are wondering, YES, they work.

Thanks for the thread. I need a few myself and some Quercus laurifolias...

Good post. I planted some chestnuts and need some tubes.

I've also been looking at these. I remember seeing them on Shark Tank.

I use 5 footers from Hallman Tree Farm in Little Mountain. If I remember correctly they are between $4-5 each. And I use 1/2” conduit for my stakes. About to by another load from them as I used my last ones this weekend when I planted some grafted persimmons.

I planted some 18” white oak seedlings 2 years ago that are either 19” or dead today. 2 weeks ago, I ordered some Nativ nursery white and Shumard seedlings with small pots that look great. They actually come with a well defined root ball, not just half of a broken tap root. I want to give these a fighting chance.

Plantra looks like a premium tube but the ones I see are either too expensive to justify or you’d have to order several hundred. I’ll probably take a trip to Hallman’s unless one of y’all tell me how to get Plantras.

Interesting. Too much water this season perhaps? We sure as hell endured that loss. Give us some feedback on your conditions, Sir...

Too much competition or poor seedlings, I’m not sure. I’ll do a better job of mowing this year for the competition, and probably fertilize both. I made a point to plant some Nativ seedlings beside some of those 2 yr olds. At least I’ll know if the potted trees are superior or not.
