    thanks for the replies.

However, I replied to dawhoo's comment that bombs kill civilians which creates more terrorists. That's all.
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.

Review WW2 and the nuclear bombing of Japan. The war ended in a matter of days, it will work today in Syria or anywhere else it is used. Total destruction of the enemy works.

Japan wasn’t fighting a war based on the beliefs of a religion.

Uh, while maybe true based on technicalities, the Japs were as fanatical/more fanatical than any muslim could ever be. The emporer was wholly worshipped by his people. It was an imperial cult.

also was a lot easier to do since we were the only ones with the bomb

Agreed. The Emperor may have had fiscal reasons for Pearl Harbouring us, but the soldiers were no less fanatical than ISIS. They died in droves trying to kill us, and they killed the ever living shit out of us during that campaign.

After WWII, my Mom hated all things Japanese. I showed up at home with a Hanjin shipping company hat on one day (Korean) and she went nuts. Dad, who actually fought the Japs on Okinawa, had to explain the difference (and why the Koreans have as much reason to hate the Japs as we do).

My brother pointed out recently that, if the bomb had failed and we had to invade the Japanese home islands, there's a good chance he nor I would have come to exist.

Yeah, they were prepared to die for the Chrysanthemum throne. They just weren't prepared for the United States Airforce getting ready to obliterate it forever, if they didn't quit...

The Japanese did more than enough to earn the nuclear fission reactions as well as the firebombing campaigns carried out against them. The atrocities Japan committed in the name of imperialism have no comparison in modern times.

Well, except for the whole extermination of the Jews.

ETA: Meant to quote myself. The Nanjing Massacre and Unit 731 are two great examples of the atrocities committed under direct order of the emperor.

I would bet that the Turks would begin tac air operations and ground missions against the Kurds in Syria, and possibly Iraq, as soon as we're gone. They'll cozy up to the Russians and the Russians will say, "have at it, bruh."

Japan was a sovereign nation. You knew where to go to find 'em.

Good luck running down and finding where a train of thought resides.
