Man that's a bad situation. I always unload my gun when the hunt is called. I think we sometimes rely too much on the safety mechanism to be fool proof.

Negative. I have a safety on all my guns and they work. But when I'm shooting my clay gun, I don't use it. When I'm not in the box, it's broken open or in the gun rack pointed skyward.

In a hunting situation, safety is on until the birds are in range.

Unload your guns boys. That's horrible.

1)The guy who wrote that is a moron.

    2) See #1. The dog didn't do anything wrong.

    3) The asshole who didn't unload his gun is responsible for all of that pain.

Definitely sucks. Freak accident, but arent they all?

I recently started carrying chest seals, quick clotting gauze, tourniquets, and bandage material in my shooting pack, hunting bag and in both my vehicles. Hopefully they will never ever be used, but they are there if I need them. Generally we are all way beyond immediate assistance when in the field. You also never know when you may come across a situation where you may be able to save someones life. Take supplies accordingly!!

We talked about this exact scenario on afternoon in Canada this year. Our guide had seen a dog discharge a weapon several times. I had to learn the hard way this season, but they do not fire if they aren't loaded.

Here again, the dog has no intent and isn't behaving negligently. The guy who left the gun loaded and in a position where the dog can "discharge" it is negligent.

That dumbass who owns the loaded gun that shot the guy in the article above is going to get his balls sued off, and rightly so.

    I don’t know if I can sue a buddy.

If you want to know how bad it sucks to negligently discharge your weapon, I’ve only hunted twice since mine in early Oct and I didn’t enjoy it either time. I’m sure turkey season will cure that, but it sucks.

I hope you never have to explore that appetite, tk. But fact is, friendships take a back seat when stupid shit like this happens.

But more commonly, who walks into a marriage thinking that they will someday hate that stupid bitch?

You wont have to. Your insurance company will do it for you.

I’ve had to explore that appetite, actually. I handled it the way that I always hoped I would, and I’m pretty proud of that.

I don’t think anyone goes into a marriage thinking they will hate that bitch, but plenty of people go into a marriage with the people surrounding them knowing they will hate that bitch. That’s a great lesson here. When you see your buddy, an acquaintance or someone you don’t even know not handling a gun safely, check them. Say something to them. I wish someone had said something to me. They shouldn’t have had to, but I wish they would have.

In this case, several people stood around that ranger with that loaded gun. Someone should have said something.
