    Default Herters 92s new life

Picked up 22 of these a couple years back.

The 92s are about twice the size of a Herters 72.

Anyhow, the warm weather prompted me to finally complete the project.

Restle coated them using Titebond III then dipped into ground walnut shells and let dry. Upon drying added another layer of Titebond III and a little water to lock it all down. Let that dry then repeat again with the same mixture. Then dried them and painted them up.

I have probably around 20 hours of pure sanity OCD in the project including the sanding and painting of the custom over size heads. I looked forever to find some heads that would fit and finally was directed to an old feller out in Oregon. He took a fair amount of convincing and said this was the last time he would pour high density foam, he added long nails in the beaks though the heads for me as well.

Now for the big question though, anybody have driving directions to Hickory Top WMA, I just finished sewing a back pack to carry them in and I am ready to roll.

I'm jealous. Tried to get some bodies from a member on here this summer and still waiting on them to be delivered

Where did you source the ground walnut shells? Are they tougher than burlap? They have to be easier to apply.

Decoys look really good. Your next picture should be dead ducks over these decoys.

Much lighter than burlap. Amazon will buy you all the hound walnut shell you need.

Your paint work looks good, air gun?. A lot better than mine. It is pretty rewarding in the end.

What did you do the paint work with? Got a few foam geese I want to revive. Why walnut over burlap?

That's amazing. How long are they...they look like they are as big or bigger than my canada floaters.

Titebond III over body, walnut shells from petco, another layer of Titebond III 2/3 to 1/3 water- then Kyrlon paint and some acrylics for detail work, just used regular paint brushes , for feathers trimmed brush to a triangle shape head.

They are 22" long and 10" wide
