Default What is this grub that was in the deers skull?

My neighbor shot a cull buck today at the club. He was cleaning the animals skull in preparation to do a euro mount. We were sitting there talking and look down and there was a grub looking creature that crawled out of the pile of hide and flesh on his tailgate. I got pics and a short video of it. Any clue what this thing is? I don't know if it was in the deers ear or in his flesh. It was creepy.

They are pretty tasty sautéed in butter and minced garlic. How do I get more?

This X 1000. Make a liver fluke dressing to go with and you are on time...

They're nasal bot fly larvae, the bot fly larvae sometimes make it's way into the sinuses of deer until maturity.Everything is fine,it happens more than you think.

Looks like a cuterebrae- but hard to tell from the fuzzy pic. If it is, it was just buried in the skin. Deer would’ve been neurologic if it had an intracranial parasite. Same parasite you’d find in a squirrel, rabbit, etc

I’ve had that happen with 3 or 4 skulls over the years doing Euro mounts.
