    Default Afternoon hunt

Went on an afternoon hunt with my father in-law on a hay field he owns. He hasn't been on many hunts since his hip replacement about 10 years ago and hasn't taken a deer himself in longer then that. He hasn't even been on a hunt recently when a deer was taken so this afternoon we meet up at his place about 3 and talked for about 30 minutes and set up. No cameras no corn piles just a hay field and a hay bail. I texted him about dark that 7 does had walked out into the field towards me and he said if you got a tag fill it! So she was dropped at 250 yards from a hay bail. When all was done we loaded her up and he was excited as heck! Biggest doe I have ever taken as well. 140#s

“Duck hunting gives a man a chance to see the loneliest places …blinds washed by a rolling surf, blue and gold autumn marshes, …a rice field in the rain, flooded pin-oak forests or any remote river delta. In duck hunting the scene is as important as the shooting.” ~ Erwin Bauer, The Duck Hunter’s Bible, 1965
