    Default Quail

They out smarted us this afternoon. Ran the dogs for just a couple of hours. Found one covey that ran into the thickest briar patch I have seen in a while. Dogs would point, then relocate, then relocate again and again. We did this for 30 minutes before we moved on. At one point, I was standing on top of briars so thick I was still 3 feet above the ground. A pack of angry beagles would have been more useful.

No quail were harmed in this exercise. Dogs and humans were not so lucky.

Any time spent chasing a hunting dog is time well spent.

Hope to watch mine point some this weekend.

Depends. For about a year my lab became obsessed with digging out. I don’t consider all the time I spent retrieving him, well spent.

I’ve got a covey in a cotton field I always run up with the hi boy. I know what’s coming but it still makes me smile when they flush.
