I cut the chord this week with directv after 12 years. They would no longer give credits. It was $180/month.

Tested out directv now on firestick. 65/month all espn, sec network, all locals. Worked fine, streamed hd with no lags. Ordered 2 more fire sticks and they are sending a roku. So far it works great.

So what’s the bottom dollar y’all are paying for internet + tv per month?

I called DirecTV today asking to reinstate the credit I had with them all of last year. No dice as they say I'm not eligible for any promotions at this time. I'm ready to make a move and tired of fighting with them. I have Windstream internet @ 25mbps. I live down a 1/2 private drive and that's the highest speed available at this time. We have (2) Amazon Firesticks both of which I broke with Kodi but it seems after a couple months Kodi will not work.

All I would want is local channels and sports channels. What would y'all suggest I look in to from a streaming standpoint for locals and sports.

I was @ $87/month with Direct TV and now it went to $125/month.

We cut cable and went with Vibe TV, which was started by a guy in Sumter. $15/ month or $100 for the year. 1,800 channels, including all movie channels, pay per view, about 2-3 of each of the major channels (4 discovery channels from each time zone), about 20 porn channels, SEC channel, about 10 ESPN's, etc.. Only thing you don't get is local, which you can get a wireless antenna for. It requires you have a firestick. We watch most our documentaries and movies on Netflix or Tubi.

    I called dtv....told em I was cancelling.

Girl said why? I said going to streaming. She asked how much I was gonna pay. Told her $40(YouTube tv).

She said ok, I'll match that.

My bill is now less than $44/month after tax with 3 boxes, etc. Down from $120.

Just gotta talk to the right person and tell em you are cancelling.

    Same with XM radio...

I called back and told them I wanted to cancel. The loyalty department couldn't do anything but said they could put me on a pending disconnect and send me to the VIP department. I said what the heck....in 2 minutes I received a $50 credit and my monthly rate went down $60/month for 12 months. It shouldn't be this hard but I suppose we will do it again in another year.

They full well know where you live and what options you have. They don’t have to offer steep discounts to people who don’t have many options. Or at least that’s my theory

I'm happy with paying $64/month and keep what I have. With only 25mbps and an Xbox going TOO much this is probably my best bet.

tend to agree....cable and internet with comporium is $170/month....our 2-year agreement is up and going to $200/month.....we've both called, talked to two diff reps, told them we were going to cut ties....one said there was nothing she could to; no discount or other package deals....gal i spoke with offered a discounted january bill

we're looking at youtubetv and a digital antenna for the shop....already have the roku and all the whatnot that's on it....haven't really looked at dish, but would consider if they have a 'new customer' deal

wish there was something i could do about the f'n cell bill, but another gripe and not my bill

    first world problems, huh

I just spent an hour on the phone with them tonight. After being repeatedly told there was nothing they could do they finally came around on something that was an error on their part to begin with. This was a normal routine with them for us. To keep it short after 4 years with them we switched to sling and couldn’t be happier.

I just got off the phone with them and I went a similar approach as sheep. $70 off the next 12 months plus removed a regional sports fee of $6/month plus 6 months of the outdoor channel & some sports channels for no additional cost. Net end result is my bill is going to be $34/month for the next year.

I too lost the $60 credit they gave us last year. So after spending 53 mins on the phone with them, my bill just went from $212.56 down to $117.61.

A few minutes on the phone with a rep 2 months ago and my bill was $0. Don't miss it and I'm banking an extra $1500/year. Got tired of throwing my money away.

So they sent some dudes out and put in all new equipment for free. Tried to charge 10 bucks a box per month but I said cancel my service then, and they relented. Turns out the fuckwit they sent this summer that told me I couldn't get the HD signal was a card issued moron. The cat they sent this time reeked of weed and was wearing a hoodie that said Candor, NY. I knew I was in good hands...

The trick is to tell the automated service that you are calling to CANCEL SERVICE at the first. You will generally speak to a real American who will sort you out. If, as happens now and then, you get Ismarelda from Bangladesh, just hang up and call again...
