Don't blame him one bit, and I'd do the same thing if I was in his position.

He just watched the "rock" of the offense break a leg against Akron (Zack Bailey). You think he really wants to risk another injury and possibly millions of dollars to play against UVA in the Belk Bowl?

As for Hurts... he kinda had to stick around. He graduates this month. Would have been stupid for him to have left.

Akron was a regular season game. He's fulfilled his obligation to the university, and his "illiterate ass" will graduate in December.

We Clemson fans are being naive if we think this won’t happen to us at some point. If you aren’t in the playoffs, these kids are being “advised” not to play. If they didn’t have millions at stake, I’d call them quitters, but, I don’t think that’s the case since millions are in their future. I hate the trend and I’d hate for my kid to do it, but, it’s here to stay. Good luck to him and I’m glad his eligibility is done.

The kid is making what he feels is the best decision for his future. I’d make the same decision if I was in his shoes. Sometimes you have to make a tough decision that everyone else will not agree with but at the end of the day it’s his future. Risk vs reward. I’m not risking my future earning potential on a exhibition game.

I’m with feets, I hated the idea when Fournette did it a few years back, but I can’t say I’d do any different. Given the fact that he may not have come from much, worked like a dog and now stands to live out a dream in the NFL, he’d be crazy to play on. Plus, he probably saw the Church Clothes Bowl line come out and it made the decision for him.

It’s an exhibition game. A fundraiser. He’s got nothing left to prove or earn that comes close to a million dollar contract. I hate this new trend but I understand.

I’ve got to agree. Now, tell me just how important any of these games really are?

Clemson takes advantage of an NCAA allowed benefit and purchases significant policies for Certain veteran players with serious NFL chances in case of injury. These are multimillion dollar value policies. It’s not that hard to insure against injury. I get what he is doing, I also get that football is about the team. When you leave, you leave. Maybe he makes some money, maybe not. Careers in the NFL are short lived.

That said, Kelly Bryant and Deebo’s situation are totally different.

Can you say it's a business decision? Yes.

    Is it selfish? Yes.

Is it a product of the self centered world that we live in? Yes.

Do I care either way? Not really. I'll be chasing ducks that day.

I wish the kid nothing but good luck. The NFL is a hard row to hoe. He's a special talent but he doesn't owe us the fans anything more.

    Clemson flashback:

The Tide posted the biggest margin of victory in the rivalry in 1931, whopping the Tigers by a margin of 74–7. I wonder if they knelt on the final play?

    Back to you Bob.
