BB--i have some old cast iron. I also have some "newer" lodge. IMO, the lodge is junk. So, they just arent the same to someone that spends time in the kitchen. Granted, I cant comment on the $200 interchangeable golf club head....

I am buying my daughter a piece that I expect her to keep and cook on for the rest of her life. Is that not something I can spend $160 on?

Geez....you people waste ungodly amounts of money on stuff that I consider worthless. Let me have a decent cast iron frying pan!

I would just suggest staying away from any cast iron made in China.

I'll gladly spend more on stuff that's gonna last; I just don't know the difference between "high-end" cast iron and "builder-grade" cast iron.

see? HS could trade in a couple of putters from his closet and get a skillet he will actually use.

BB- i hear ya. its hard to know the difference until you have tried them all. I had some cheap non stick pans that I thought were great....till they werent any more. I have given up on them and will stick with cast iron. I just like it more....

It takes a long time for me to make a post, voice to text when I'm busy trying to do grown up things.

Just giving you hell. I have a $300 French pileau pot at the house and it’s the tits. Probably the best present I ever got.

You chose a great gift that will be well-used, not shoved in a drawer or forgotten in a closet.

Lodge works just fine, just like Yeti vs Coleman!

Ask yourself this, did your granny buy a 50.00 piece of cast iron or a 5.00 frying pan? Has Smithey perfected some magical blend of metals to make their cast iron pans?

My Grandma used bottom shelf cookware.

She also used corn cobs and pages from the Sears catalog to wipe her ass.

I try not to base my decisions on what was “good enough” for Grandma
