Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.
Smithey, but that may exceed your definition of "break the bank"
ETA: Go buy a Lodge and get Skrimple to buff it smooth and season it for you. It'll be just as smooth as Smithey and you can claim you did the work to smooth it out so whoever you're giving it to will think more of you

My wife gives me Lodge for birthdays which is basically Christmas presents and such. It's okay with me.
Smithey.
Toof isn't into sweat equity and he's a dentist so his break the bank and my break the bank are separated by a few zeros.
Prayers sent and congrats on making smart cast iron choices.
Ask me how I know.
Smithey is made in Charleston but they don't advertise anything bigger than 12".
i just filled out some godforsaken CSS profile college aid form and i feel very angry

Smithey, he does a 16” now.
I don't know why you nerds think you need a mirror finish on your cast iron. The Lodge skillets will fry an egg without sticking right out the box, and they are easy to reseason without pooling, etc., especially compared to smooth skillets. Supporting a South Carolina company is cool I guess, but Lodges aren't made in China either.
Is Smithey the yeti of cast iron?
At $200 for a 12" skillet... yes.. yes they are...

you people spend 50k on a stupid truck. I last spent 12k on mine. so, I have money leftover to buy my daughter a locally made piece of cookware that has the ability to last the rest of her life.
I went with the 10" for $160. I hope you people dont think less of me.
I also drink miller high life at $6.99/12 so I know I've saved enough by now to buy an "expensive" pan.
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.
you got me there....
