Very cool Chris! That tide was perfect for a hunt!

Picture a cigar minnow that's been baked on the gunnel of your favorite bottom fishing boat in the hot July sun. At least, that was my experience.

Nice job on getting after them though. I'm sure your boy had a ball.

Just as good as doves. Put them in a salt/sugar brine for a couple days, then on the grill till medium rare. I do skewers with red onion and pineapple.

They taste a lot like where they live. Most folks soak them in salt water or milk before frying them. Some people love them. Those people could eat mud in a pinch.

No doubt about that! I soaked them in salt water and tried to fry them and then simmer in gravy. It was bad enough that I no longer shoot rails! LOL
Living in Moncks Corner but looking forward to moving back to the West Coast in 2020 where there are more ducks and less duck hunters!! LOL

No, no they are not. It is not necessary to brine a dove in sugar, salt, coca cola, motor oil or what have you for a fortnight just to make them questionably edible.

    Edit*

Good job on getting the little man on them though. They are fun to shoot.

Take some cooked doves out on low tide, stomp them in the mud, remove and eat. That will give you a good idea

Yeah, you're probably right. I've never really spent much time in a kitchen.....

They can live a long and prosperous life then. I’m not wasting time or money to shoot something I won’t eat.

Ok, I was an ass to Foie Gras in my last post but they are good! I enjoy oysters right out of the water but hate onions. According to y’all I would eat a pluff mud sandwich and like it. I don’t think I would.

i like onions and oysters but have only eaten rail once. That's saying something....

and you probably need to know that foie gras is a chef. so, he can at least make a plate of rail look artistic and maybe edible...

I have also eaten scoter....twice. FISH made me eat it the second time because he swore up and down "it couldnt be bad in a soup."

Well, scoter stew is on the list of things I will never eat again.

    Thanks FISH!
