Rem, shot you a message back.

Thanks 2th. I was looking for a little more of report on water, cover, etc. 11 hunters firing 201 shots doesn't really tell the whole story.

Just take a bag of decoys and some burlap. Listen to the techs that put you out and don't shoot 25 times and not kill a limit of ducks. Sounds like they have ducks. Looks like the weather should be perfect. Walking thru mud will be the hardest part of the hunt.

I'm thinking some gadwall, teal, and pintail dekes. Plus a jerk rig.

Were y’all the guys that only killed one merganser? Y’all got gar holed big time. They should let y’all come back again haha.

Lost a pintail and the prettiest stud of a drake shoveler I’ve ever laid eyes on. Still bitter about it.

First mottled though, so check that one off the list.

That was us. We only had 4 birds come within range. Only had 6 birds land on the pond in two different places. We were willing to move our setup but no where worth moving too. We shot a total of 11 times.

Yep. I wiffed on a teal three shots. We both wiffed on a pair of blacks that were slightly out of range. Knocked down the hood and then water swatted him. Not my best shooting but it happens.

We hunted Murphy last week and it quickly became obvious that decoys were hurting and not helping. I wouldn’t put out more than a half dozen good looking decoys with some of them on a jerk string. Had birds over us all morning but most would work us for a few passes and then land in the next pothole 75 yards away. You can always put out more if you feel like it would help. Taking up a decent size spread mid hunt is a huge time killer.

Yeah, he was the one who didn't want to move 75 yards to the pothole they landed in all morning..

Addressing the peanut gallery, we still shot our limits where we were, it was just obvious that the bulk of the birds didn’t dig our decent sized decoy spread. Fug and I killed our limit of sprigs, a monster black, a banded mottled, and four gadwall so I think we did ok. I lost a bird and we sailed one way off before you start questioning my math. If we weren’t getting any action we certainly would have moved.
