Default Megyn Kelly and black face

Someone educate me. Why were her comments offensive?

NBC was looking for a chance to fire her. This gave them an excuse.

I can only assume that it was taken as her thinking it was ok to go black face for Halloween.

Let me ask it differently. If I wanted to be offended, why would her comments offend me?

As way of background, my wife sent me a link to this “story” the morning after I had to tell my son that he can’t paint his face brown for his Deshaun Watson constume. He didn’t understand. He does not see race, period. He simply knows that some of his classmates have brown skin, as do some of the athletes he admires. I couldn’t explain it because I don’t understand.

This. They overpaid for her (3 yr, 69 Million total) and her show stinks and her ratings reflect that.

They are trying to figure out how to get out of her contract. She's bringing her lawyer to any meetings.

Hope she gets every dime of it.

Gotcha. Maybe it’s lost in translation. I, personally, don’t see anything wrong in what you described. The literal “blackface” is/was a caricature of a black person with exaggerated facial features, hair, and acting like an ignorant buffoon. Basically minstrel show characters. So there’s blackface vs portraying a black person. That old movie “Soul Man” was not blackface. Downey Jr. in Tropic Thunder wasn’t blackface.

Just getting my 2 cents in before the avalanche. Back to my scotch.

I thought she was genuine in her follow up remarks. Too much overreacting still happening IMO.
