    Default Shooting Rail Improvised

I swear the Chinese designed these deer stands for themselves. It’s like you have to be 4 ft tall for them to fit. What have y’all done to correct this issue? Lol. Rednecks and engineers welcome. I was just admiring my own way of rigging and figured i’d Throw it out there.A95862EE-604C-4A78-9324-E678AE98E521.jpgA95862EE-604C-4A78-9324-E678AE98E521.jpg

On my single man ladder stands I have the bars that clip on the rail and y at the top. You can adjust them up or down.

I tie paracord around the tree trunk above the stand as far up as I can reach- tie it so both loose ends are hanging free, run 1 end to each front corner of the shooting rail, pull the rail up to the desired height and tie the paracord using half hitches- easily adjusted if someone taller or shorter sits the stand.

Lol I like all those options. I thought about duct taping a 4x4 to it. All I had in my truck was an old box. I’ll have to come up with a little better solution.

Deer are incredibly keen to notice white. You need to spray paint that box.

I have to wear a buff to cover my white hair when I deer hunt. Luckily it is starting to slowly turning blue-ish.

I do the same thing as Bad Habit. Tie rope around the tree above my stand and use the ends as stabilizers for long shots. You'd be surprised how much it helps compared to no rest at all. It takes a little practice learning to hold the forearm and the rope ends in one hand.

I have also used a trigger stick tripod in the stand but it's a bit cumbersome keeping the feet on the platform.

Simply tape in a chok that is trimmed to fit or a door stopper between the rail and stand to hold it higher. The string method works but also will impede your barrel from swinging around both right and left.

I cut a stick a few feet long with a split at the top. Cradle the rail in the split and you can micro adjust it if you put it on your boot.

Weld him up one of those cardboard specials.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I carry an adjustable shooting stick to each stand and put it inside my boot for the shot.

Well the box did work well tonight. Saw 8 does and a 6point. I Let them all walk, cause I’m waitin on horns. They came out right at 6:30. I know I need to shoot the does, but the wife’s pregnant and not eating too much deer meat at the moment. Thanks for y’all input. I’ll try a couple of y’all tricks and see which one works best for me.

Like this but just stick a bolt through either the rail arm or side of stand that will stop it at your desired height.

You could always just buy a stand with a proper shooting rail. The heck with trying to rig something to stable a shot

I use an adjustable shooting stick and just carry it with me to every stand. Use the stick to hold the rail up or my gun.
