    I’d rather take the chance than have whatever that hook has had in it for a season fester in an open wound.

    Pretty dang close to his carotid artery, he’s lucky.

    I didn’t think that could be possible though for a circle hook with the point being 90deg to the shank

    Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

    Every rig that comes in gets replaced, leader and all.
    That hook in that fellows neck almost looks almost like a longline hook or a hook like we use for marlin pitch baits, which don’t get replaced, they get left in the fishes mouth.
