Default When do you use tow mode

Pulling an enclosed trailer to Tennessee and wondering if i really need to use tow mode other than like the climb up Saluda Gap, etc. Trailer will be around 2300 lbs and pulling with my F150. Never worry about it in the lowcountry but wanted to see what ya'll experts say

Seems to be some grey area about percentage of maximum capacity. Obviously not an issue with this trailer.

Me too. It helps with breaking as much as towing

If I have something attached, it is in tow mode.

I would certainly be using it on a trailer that weighed 2300.

Decent sized trailer, with a lot of wind resistance, going up and down hills. Yeah I would use it.

Anything bigger than a utility trailer.

Is a couple of mpg worth a transmission?

Use it. It changes shift points, line pressure etc. Esp those 60E GM trannys. That excessive weight and shift is hell on the drums and clutches.

What you meant to say was, "Nooooo. Tow mode is just a gimmick. Put all the weight on the tongue and mash the gas."

KRT - our LX 570 tows fine and has a tow mode and this is what is used for long trips. However, my good ole 2006 4runner,6 cylinder and 210k miles does not have a tow mode and I've often wondered if I should put it in 4 vs Drive when pulling my boats around. Jon boat with 25hp and 19 - 22' CC with 150 and 225 respectively. I only tow with my 4runner on those to and from lake in Charlotte, shop, etc.

I use the tow mode 1) when I'm pulling my fishing boat, and 2) when I'm about to try to pass someone on a two-lane back road.

I don't use it to pull the aluminum duck boat.

Whenever I wanna go extra fast. It’s like hyperdrive on a Tundra, your own results may vary.

my F-1fiddy has Sport mode for that.

Its good on back roads and in the mountains.

But to the OP, if there is something on my hitch I usually have it in tow/haul
