    Default Charleston/Bulls Bay Area

How much fresh water is dumping in the area? Trying to decide if it’s worth making a day trip tomorrow.

You’ll be fine we really haven’t gotten a lot of rain. Thinking of trying the bay Sunday myself.

Like a friend of mine says, "Come on out and swim in the creek behind my house. We change the water twice a day."

Bulls Bay is not seriously affected by any freshwater runoff or heavy rains "upstream"...there is no river system that feeds into the bay. The Santee(s) dump in to the ocean well above it and everything else from the lakes dumps out on the harbor, well south.

Plenty of times the bay is flooded w fresh rain water. Even the coastal beach areas out front can get flooded w fresh from lg rainfall. Comes from the waterways.
I think this weekend will be fine as we really didnt get that much rain. My brother will be out there around the bay tomorrow probably at sunup giving it a go. I have a wedding tonight and I will not be attending any sunup festivities tomorrow .

I’m gonna make the day trip. Try to catch a limit of shrimp early then maybe some fish. Never been there so gonna do some google map scouting tonight. I know it’s shallow so I’ll be taking it slow.

VERY shallow, and it all looks the same. Mind the tides. Tarpon still in the area FYI. Shrimp are easy to catch at the store .

Winds out of the northeast can make the bay and ICW very muddy. I prefer to fish the incoming tide up there if it’s out of the NE.

Biggest issue in the bay will be the muddy water from the big tides.

I don’t know that I can get motivated to go now. I went hunting this evening and not feeling the 2 hour drive.

I defiantly donated some lower unit paint coming back in. Missed my spot by about 3 ft.
