    Default 2002 Tacoma Project

I don't post alot on here, but have always enjoyed the vehicle project threads. So, here's mine. I'll try to update as I go.

Picked this up Friday of last week. It spent it's life as a cow checking truck and it looks the part. Dents galore and I've never seen an interior this dirty. It will be a hunting truck, so I'm not going to crazy with it.

    Specs:
    2002 Toyota Tacoma 4x4
    3.4l V6
    E-locker
    132,000miles

Things to do in no particular order are: body, winch & bumper, prep & paint, interior, electrical, tires and maybe a leveling kit. Anyone know what is needed to fit 32" tires on these without rubbing?

To get an idea of how dirty the interior is the original color is that gray on the center hump. C1E23739-8471-490F-9277-D51CAB350F1E.jpgC8DB8181-5E6B-44C3-ABDA-66192A7A964E.jpg

Thanks HS. I may take you up on that if I can't get this smell out.

How was the power & mileage with the 285/75r16's? I've read where there is a noticeable drop for both when you go up to a 33" x 11". I was thinking 32" skinnies......something around to 9" wide.

You will have power loss with larger tire. If you can find 15inch rims the 33x10.5 r15 was a lighter tire. Look up “gray wire mod”. Allows you to engage locker in 2, 4h, or 4l. Found it useful to spin the rear around in tight areas.

Common sense is not a gift. It's a punishment because you have to deal with everyone else who doesn't have it.

2 inch spacer lift in the front and use blocks or better extended shackle in the rear. It will ride like a buggy wogon with an adda leaf in rear. To light in rear.

I averaged 23mpg on my 70 mile round trip to work and back. That was driving it like it was stolen. It still had plenty enough power to pull out and pass on the interstate without a problem. Just drop a gear and go. The only time i really couldnt use 5th gear was with the fourwheeler in the bed of the truck and my 14ft jonboat behind it.

    Adam,
What 4wheeler is that? That is what I want to do, but when I measured with a toolbox mine will barely fit (I mean like a inch). I have a 97' Honda 4trax 300.

    Thanks,
    Mike
