    Default Wyoming antelope

Off to a good start. Got upgraded to first class for flight to Denver and everything made it out unscathed.
Hit the road headed north to WY and it’s damn nice to be in some cooler weather for a change. Checked in at the ranch office, met the manager and hunting coordinator, signed releases and paid our trespass fee and took a tour of the section we have to hunt, a little over 15K acres. Antelope everywhere and the front has filled every puddle up with ducks. Gonna be a good time!

My bud scored first. Very cool stalk. 111 yard shot with a 357 Mag Freedom Arms with a 180 partition. Got everything on film.

Getting to 111 yards on antelope is pretty legit but if you can shoot 300yds there is no reason your hunt shouldnt be over in the first morning in NE Wyoming or the Eastern half of MT.

that's stout for a pistol shot in my book. But then again it is a freedom arms. funny I was just on their site a few hours ago. I'll have to stick with my Blackhawk.

Check out pistol packaging. They make some sweet holsters for hunting handguns. I have 2 for my contenders

He is an avid handgun hunter and has killed a bunch of stuff with wheel guns, XPs, and Conteneders. We were hitting a mini IPSC target at 200 in prep for this hunt. He has a 6.5x284 XP 100 that we shot the mini IPSC at 400 with

I spotted this one a ways out and used a draw to get on the back side of a hill without the group seeing me. Crawled up over the top and I was 200 yards from him. There were three good bucks in a group of about 20 antelope, but he had the best cutters and a chocolate face. Took a while to get a clear shot so I would hit a doe. Bang flopped him with an old 700 ADL in 25-06 loaded with Sierra 117 GameKings. One more antelope tag to fill tomorrow. I’ve got a leftover deer tag in another unit but it’s snowed all day and the ranch/ BLM roads are greasy as hell. If they don’t freeze tonight you won’t be able to get off the gravel for several days and it’s a helluva long was in on a two track to where the deer are in the unit I’ve got a tag for.

Way to go! That is a great representative animal!!

My expectations for Antelope always exceed reality, but I grew up in a house with two B&Cs on the wall.. my Dad was queer for antelope and killed a lot of large ones. I keep applying for AZ and NM.. hoping for a chance at a giant. The guy we turkey hunt with in TX may just get hired.. he finds bruiser Pronghorn every season. Fun hunts for sure. Congrats again!!
