Two of us hunted a cut corn field yesterday. It was cool to see geese and teal using a really small area of 2-3” of standing water in a cut corn field here in my little part of the world.

From one end of the waterfowl spectrum to the other. Just curious, y'all use #2 for both birds or loaded the guns according to what was coming in?

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!

Used to hunt a small shallow pond surrounded by pines that was a dove magnet the last hour of daylight. Some local geese would come in from time to time. We'd keep some BBs or something of the like in our dove vests. When we could hear the flock coming we'd start shucking and load up with steel. It was epic.

    Good times.

    geese make noise far away

in this situation, I think lead 6s are still the best choice.

I shoot high-speed 3" #2 steel for everything from teal to tundra swans. Good Work Jon428 - I'm jealous.

Usually Kent Fasteel. I've heard all the urban legends about Fasteel dud shells but I've never had any misfire with Kent. I shoot Federal #2 steel when I shoot the 16 gauge - only because they are the only ones that still make a purple hulled 16...
