We make jerky out of them for duck season. If you're going to cook them use a bunch of garlic they are nasty

Young man that is some of the finest fowl you can eat. Dont listen to these pecker heads. Hot coals or hot skillet and your taste for seasoning. Dont over think it.

I can't decide if we need a sarcasm font or if your taste buds are ruined.

Do they taste differently than green wing? I've always enjoyed teal, but maybe I always get lucky and shoot greenwings. And cinnamons of course. But that's only every other year.

Corn fed BWT 3 months from now are far different from the ditch skimmers you kill here this time of year. You cannot tell the difference between a BWT and a GWT in January.

    Late winter summerducks still rule...

I still can't say that I've had a bad BW any time of the season.

You, sir, are correct. They have been eating mosquito larvae, snails, etc. Ever wonder why they look so much like a shoveler?

To call a BW some of the finest is a long shot. They are not the worst by any means but they are essentially just a miniature spoonie. It all depends on what they've been eating. That said, fajitas / tacos is always a safe move with BW's. And yes, BW and GW taste different. Anyone who trys to tell you otherwise has not tried them side by side.

    Link’s Duck or Goose Bites

Take breasts and slice to finger size pieces. Goose be sure to cut silver membrane out, it’ll make it very tough.
Soak in heavy brine 6hrs to overnight.
    Start grill, 450*-500*
    Drain and flush meat.
    Melt butter in microwave.
    Pour butter on meat.
Sprinkle Montreal Steak seasoning while mixing butter on meat.
    Lay on hot grill.
Flip meat often, don’t over cook!
Cook to medium to medium rare.
Take meat off before done to liking. The meat will still cook a little off the grill.

For tacos or fajitas, substitute Montreal steak seasoning with spice if choice and slice meat in thinner slices.

I will agree that there is a fundamental difference in the taste of BWT and GWT that stems from early season diet. It vastly lessons as the season goes on, but it is still there...

I am laughing that we are discussing bad duck when most Americans have never eaten a properly roasted duck in their lives...
