The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is,
as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.

If I knew the backstory on how they came to belong to my dad it would help me understand and it might mean more to me. As it sits right now it's an M1 Garand that was in my dad's safe. I've never shot it i don't think he ever shot it. There are other guns in the safe that mean more to me than some of the things I own myself.

Your rear sight looks different than those on my M1s, but its been a while since I pulled them out.
You will regret selling it when you are older, maybe not now, but later in your life. Trust me
I'm not sure how I missed this thread.
If you didn't get the information you were looking for shoot me a message and I'll do my best to answer them.
The rear sight is a lock bar vs the T105 you see on later Garands. It may be a safe bet to assume it is a Type 3 which would match with the serial number and SA/NFR era stock.
If you give me the drawing numbers of the parts (trigger group housing, hammer, safety, bolt) and the heat lot code on the receiver I can tell you a little more about how "correct" the rifle may be.
If you still have it, how much do you want for it?!

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!
