New redshirt rule

What are you seeing from the college football team(s) you follow regarding the new 4 game redshirt rule?

Does it look like teams will play everybody in the first four games and then make decisions prior to game five?

Or are teams holding players for use later in the season (such as conference championships or bowl games)?

What strategy would you use as a coach?

It looks to me like Clemson is going to play everybody in the first four games and make decisions prior to game five. I have not seen a full participation list, but it seems like lots of freshmen are playing.

I know Kirby said if somebody was good enough to play, tnen they would play. He said in this day and time, kids are either going pro or done with school.

Good point. Top players are unlikely to stick around 4-5 years.

I think if I were leading a non-elite team (not in contention for conference championship or playoffs), I would strongly consider holding a game or two so as to encourage freshmen that would otherwise redshirt to continue working hard throughout the season in hopes of playing against the rival or in the bowl game at the end of the year.

I can see Hurts at Bama , AND HIS DADDY, putting brakes on before he plays more than 4 games this year

Hell in all honesty if I were him I would jump to USuC if he had brains

Or just switch positions at Bama. He can win a NC there.
