    Default Arkansas/Louisiana recommendations

Got a client who wants to go on a good duck hunt. He hunts every day in the northeast. We’ve been talking about getting together for a hunt, I mentioned ducks and Arkansas that perked his interest.

Cost isn’t a concern. I want to do it first class. Any suggestions for lodges in Arkansas/Louisiana? He hunts open water in the northeast so timber might be cool but mainly I’m looking for good accommodations, good food and good shooting

    Thanks in advance

Shellshocked guide is a good one.hell one of the guides let me sleep at his house after the week and even took me to his duck pond.

Slick McCollums Ask to be guided by Johnny Mahfouz. He can blow a duck call. Anything else would be a distant second

    AR:

Slick's is the best. Five Oaks Ducks Lodge is swanky too.

Weather being the variable, you will find it difficult to improve on the advice already provided in this thread...

You've got recs for three states. its going to come down to when are you planning on going. If your trying to do this in Nov or Dec-I'd go Missouri, AR and LA spots are going to be much more cold front dependent in order to have large sums of birds.

I will beg to differ , Hackberry holds birds from start to finish. Won't kill many Mallards in the extreme lower SW corner of LA, but the variety of ducks ( and geese) is great. Super nice lodge, great guides, fishing if desired and some of the best Cajun food you are going to eat make Hackberry a winner.

If I had the choice of a 3 Mallard day versus a full strap of a combined Sprig, Wigeon, Gadwall, teal morning, I'd be going for the mixed bag. All of the folks I have taken to Hackberry have returned on their own many times. It's a great experience - plus, it's not Arkansas. Arkansas bores most folks..

" Hey, it's 0930 and we are going back to the lodge in Crotchrot, AR " Now what??

In Hackberry, you get on the boat and go crush some Reds and Trout..

Full strap and stringer guide service. Blake Soileau used to be the main guide on Honeybrake.

To each their own. I like them all, never killed just 4 mallards when I'm in AR. Typically kill a mixed bag every hunt.
